Article
1. Under the title of "European Magnetic Resonance Award", a
prize is established within the framework of the European Magnetic Resonance Forum
chapter of the The Round Table Foundation, which shall be governed by the following
provisions.

2. The Award consists of a diploma, a plaque with an appropriate inscription,
and a crystal
figure depicting an owl, representing Athena, the goddess of crafts and skilled
peacetime pursuits. She personifies wisdom and rightousness. Thus, the Award symbolizes
scientific perseverance and knowledge.

3. To be eligible for the Award, the prospective awardee should have written
and published a scientific paper or scientific papers in basic or medical aspects
of nuclear magnetic resonance imaging, its medical or biological applications,
or related sciences, or contributed to the benefit of mankind within these disciplines.

4. To be considered eligible for an Award by the Selection Committee,
it is necessary to be nominated in writing by a person competent to make such
a nomination. Competence shall be defined and decided upon by the Selection Committee.
Personal applications shall not be considered. Nominations
can be made by anybody working in or connected to nuclear magnetic resonance,
medical imaging, or related fields.
Additionally, a group of international scientists (the Nomination Committee) comprising
not less than 50, not more than 70 people shall be appointed by the Selection
Committee for each Award selection to propose possible recipients. Nominations
shall be explained and accompanied by the publications and other documents cited
in support of them. The Selection Committee shall decide how and which documents
shall be submitted. Article
5. Two Awards shall be given every other year. They are divided between
"Basic Sciences" and "Medical Sciences", each of which is
considered one independent Award. If there is no unambiguous decision by the Selection
Committee, two Awards in one category can be presented instead. No appeals
may be made against the decision of the Selection Committee with regard to the
decision. The bi-annual date of presentation should coincide with an international
conference in the field, organized by EMRF or TRTF. It shall be compulsory
for the recipient of an Award, whenever it is possible, to give a lecture on a
subject relevant to the work for which the Award has been presented. Article
6. The President of the Council of The Round Table Foundation is, ex
officio, the chairman of the Selection Committee of the Award. The Chairman
appoints a deputy chairman and a secretary for a period of twelve years, and as
he deems two other members of the Selection Committee. These posts are renewable.
The members of the Selection Committee shall not receive any remuneration for
their work. The Selection Committee shall consist of no more than five members,
sit in private session, and make, by a majority of the members present, a recommendation
regarding the choice of the Award from the list of nominations received by the
Committee in the year of the award presentation. At least three members must be
present to make the meeting valid. Should divergent opinions have been expressed
in connection with the decision concerning the presentation of an award and an
equal number of votes be cast for different opinions, the opinion represented
by the Chairman shall prevail. Article

16. Questions regarding amendment of these Statutes may be raised by any
member of the Selection Committee. Any proposal for amendment shall be submitted
to the Chairman for consideration and confirmation. Given
